Sourcing of mineral ingredients to technology products

Some of the minerals mined to produce technology products may require sustainable supply chains.  Tisserant and Pauliuk (2016) highlight there is generally a combination of mining of cobalt, copper, and nickel.  Gulley, McCullough, and Shedd (2019) describe the progressive expansion of Chinese firms to seek raw materials such as cobalt that are not available in China.  Washburn et al. (2019) identified ecological risks to sea habitats due to mining of minerals such as cobalt. 

Cobalt mining may lead to serious health conditions (Banza Lubaba Nkulu et al., 2018).  Banza Lubaba Nkulu et al. (2018) study the exposure of cobalt to children and adults in cobalt extraction.  Tisserant and Pauliuk (2016) establish a multiregional input-output model for forecasting the supply and demand of cobalt for the next 30 years.  Shengo, Kime, Mambwe, and Nyembo (2019) detail the processes of mining cobalt and the effects that treatment of cobalt may have on the environment.  Farjana, Huda, and Mahmud (2019) explain that high concentrations of cobalt can lead to health conditions.  Farjana et al. (2019) discuss the contribution of CO2 emissions from cobalt mining to global warming.
